Abstract
Vegetarians live longer and Healthier life. This idea is supported by the Berlin vegetarian study, which was begun in 1985 at the Institute for Social Medicine and Epidemiology of the German Health Office in Berlin. Furthermore, the endurance of a vegetarian is three times that of a non-vegetarian. The vegetarians had lower values of uric acid in their blood and are less in danger of suffering from gout. Their kidneys also function better for the same reason. The risk factors associated with the cardio-vascular disorders and cancer occurs less often. Some doctors have pointed out that strict vegetarian diet may result in lack of vitamin B12, some other proteins and nutrients, but their cholesterol level is very low. The cholesterol level also depends upon the physical activity. If the non-vegetarians, do exercise daily, the chances of increased cholesterol and that of diseases associated with it will be lesser.
